The crash happened in the 300 block of North Railroad Street between Broad and Willow streets shortly after 8 a.m., according to officials.
An unidentified 63-year-old woman died at the scene, according to Palmyra borough police.
The woman was found in a Jeep Liberty, according to a report by The Sun.
North Railroad Street and Forge Road were closed until 10:45 a.m., according to police.
Palmyra borough police were assisted on scene by Norfolk Southern Police, Palmyra Fire Department and Lebanon County coroner's office.
Three locomotives and 35 cars heading to Chicago were involved with the crash, Norfolk Southern spokesman Connor Spielmaker told PennLive in an email.
“Any loss of life is a tragedy – our thoughts are with this person’s family during this difficult time,” Spielmaker told the outlet.
The spokesman reminded the public to use caution at railroad crossings.
The crash remains under investigation but police say the railroad signals were functioning.
Norfolk Southern and Palmyra borough police will continue to investigate the tragic incident.
